Psalm 27:14 (KJV)
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Have you ever been to a place in life where the reality of your relationships, circumstances, and situations weighed so heavily against you that you didn’t even want to wake up because you had to face them another day? Have you ever been in a place in life where it seemed like absolutely nothing was going your way? When I say absolutely nothing I mean every aspect of your life from school, to work, to home, to your friends, and even your family was in a total wreck. One day I found myself in a dark place in life where I was constantly asking God questions like “God what are you doing in my life right now?”, “God how did I get here?”, “God why is this happening to me?”, “God have you forgotten about me?”. I felt so alone like the entire world was against me during that time because nothing was going my way. Everything felt like it was crashing down and burning in complete chaos! But it’s amazing how God works. In the midst of the darkest hours of our lives God teaches us the greatest lessons. When going through what seemed to be the worse season of my life God taught me the importance of developing the patience to wait on Him.
It’s so important that we all learn how to wait on God when going through undesirable, unfavorable, unfortunate, and untimely circumstances. God will give us the power, strength, and ability to overcome any opposition and to conquer any challenge that comes our way. Throughout life we must hold on to the fact that God is working for our good even when it seems like nothing good is working for us. Today I want to encourage you all to keep waiting on the Lord despite of what you think or how you feel about your life at this very moment.
Don’t you just hate to wait? To our generation waiting feels like torture to the soul. The world has become so hi-tech and fast-paced that we have become unfamiliar with the concept of being patient. Most of us have developed a negative outlook on waiting because the world has programmed our minds to expect instantaneous results from everything that we do. This is a weakness within the people of our generation because patience produces perseverance and people who don’t how to persevere will ultimately perish. To persevere means to be able to remain steady in purpose despite of delays, difficulties, and distractions. To persevere also means to be able to stay determine despite of the devil’s antics and attacks upon your life.
God wants us to develop patience so that we can keep pressing towards the prize, which is the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. People with a lack of patience unconsciously develop a lazy, spoiled, and impatient attitude towards everything in life. Impatience is the one of the greatest enemies of success! The truth is that great achievements always require a great investment of hard work, time, and energy. Patience is one of the greatest factors that will enable us to achieve our long term goals.
Life will require us to be patient at times. Sometimes God will put us in different places and positions where we will have to wait on Him to move in our lives. God is omniscient, which means He knows everything. God knows what He is doing and God knows what’s best for us. God’s timing is perfect, we just have to trust in it! In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. God loves us so much and is willing to guide us through life. When we choose do things our own way all we end up doing is making the wrong decisions, cheating ourselves, settling for less, and living with regrets. God’s plan for our lives is flawless and we should seek Him for counsel in all that we do!
So what have you been waiting on God to do in your life? No matter what it is, remain strong and be of good courage. The best things in life are worth waiting for and they will require patience from us. Waiting on God is one of the hardest thing to do in life, but it is also the most rewarding. Be patient throughout life even when things aren’t operating your time. You choosing to do things God’s way will ultimately pay off in the long run. Patience will give God time to perfect you. Patience will give God time to prepare you. Patience will give God the opportunity to properly position you. Don’t give up on God just because He’s not moving at your speed or pace.
God’s process is perfect. Don’t allow your external circumstances to deteriorate your internal character. If you are living according to His word God will deliver and exalt you in due time. Have faith in the Lord and confidently expect for Him to answer your prayers and petitions. We should find joy in waiting knowing that God is always with us and working on our side. Don’t be in rush, keep working hard and your time will come. Life might get ugly, uncomfortable, and uneasy at times, but that’s the best time for personal growth. While waiting on God keep working towards your goals and continue to be productive. Hope you all have a great week. God bless!
