Peace, Peace

John 14:27 (NKJV)
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The problems of life are causing many individuals to feel extremely stressed, depressed, overwhelmed, and restless. All over the world people are searching for peace but can’t seem to find it. They have tried several different paths, methods, and worldly religions to find peace, but all just create the illusion of peace. Some people have tried to find peace in various medications, drugs, and liquors but soon realize that they only provide temporary highs that lead to addiction and more misery. People are becoming frustrated with life because they have tried everything in this world to escape and find peace, but nothing works! There are people right now on the verge of suicide because they can’t find peace in their lives. There has to be another way to find peace! Is there any other solution? In this world full of craziness and chaos is it possible to find peace?

Peace is defined as having a calm state of mind that is free from negativity. Peace is not based on your external circumstances, it is based on your internal relationship with God. Eternal peace comes from us being directly connected with our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. In the scripture above (John 14:27) Jesus didn’t promise His disciples a perfect life, but He did promise them peace. Keep in mind the Jesus’ disciples had to face hatred, torture, and even death because of their faith. In life we all have to face adversity! Trials and tribulations are inevitable, even Jesus Christ had to go through them. God knows that we will experience pain, loss, and hardship at some point in life. Despite all that we go through God doesn’t want our hearts to be troubled or afraid. Peace comes from knowing that God has everything under control.

Peace also comes from realizing that your life is secure in God’s mighty hands. Disappointment is what we will feel if we depend on other people to bring us peace. Emptiness is what we will feel if we depend on material items to bring us peace. Turning to sin will never bring us peace, it will only give the enemy access to destroying our lives.True peace can only be found by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. Our souls can only find rest in God alone.

Peace is a gift from God. Reality can be harsh and times can get tough, but don’t let the enemy steal your peace. Don’t allow the worries of the world wear and weigh you down. God is a Savior, Deliverer, Helper, and Healer. Give all of your burdens to God, He is capable of handling them. We have to change our mindsets and realize how great our God is! Everything happens for a reason. Instead of letting problems bring us down we must use them as motivation to lift us up. Do you need more peace in your life? If you’re a suffering from a lack of peace then start spending more time with God. Meditating on the word of God brings peace to the mind, intimate worship in God’s presence brings peace to the heart, and a strong prayer life brings peace to the soul. Much peace and love to everyone. God bless!

I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. (Psalm 85:8)
