Luke 11:34-35 (NKJV)
The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.
The mind is only powerful when we learn how to master it. To begin mastering our thoughts we must realize that our minds are heavily influenced by what we take in through our eyes and ears. What we view and listen to shapes our thoughts and ultimately our lives. The eyes are the gateway to the soul. Be conscious of what you are allowing into your soul. The mainstream media is mostly filled with negativity, corruption, non-sense, and lies. Don’t allow yourself to be psychologically manipulated by what you see in this world. Psychological manipulation is a type of social influence that aims to change the perception or behavior of others through deceptive tactics. We must filter what we feed our minds. Most people think that it doesn’t matter what they watch because it will have no affect on them and that’s pure foolishness. Do not be deceived, where the mind goes the body will follow!
Is what you watch on a daily basis beneficial or detrimental to your soul? In Luke 11:34 Jesus states that “The eye is the lamp of the body”. Jesus goes on to explain that if your eye is good then your whole body is full of light and if your eye goes bad then your whole body is full of darkness. One’s life is a direct reflection of one’s mindset! Pay attention to what you’re allowing to influence your mind every day. If you look at negativity everyday then you will develop pessimistic thoughts that will lead to a negative attitude. If you look at pornography everyday then your mind will become perverted and it will lead to sexual immorality. If your eyes take in trash everyday don’t be surprised when your life starts to stink. The outcome is always a direct result of the income. What you watch has a direct result on your life. You have control over what you choose to place before your eyes. Edify your mind, don’t destroy it! This simple decision can be life changing. Don’t waste time watching stuff that doesn’t add value to your life.
It can be hard to escape from world’s influence in our generation, but it is possible! In Philippians 4:8 Paul writes “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” God wants us to have a pure, clear, truthful, and loving mindset! In order to get our minds like that we must keep our eyes on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, loving, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy! Psalm 101:3 says “I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me”. We are God’s children. Realize that you are a king or a queen. Not everything is worthy for you to set your eyes upon. Your body is a vessel for the Holy Spirit, not for trash. Focus your eyes on God’s word. Keep your eyes on the Lord. God bless!
